Ballyhegan Davitts under 14s got their 2013 season up and running on Saturday 2 March with a keenly contested match against St Endas (Tullysaran and An Port Mor) in the 1st round of the Feile shield.

Played at Ballyhegan Park this was the first match of the season and the young Davitts started off at a blistering pace scoring 1-4 without reply with fine points from James McCormack, Conor Fearon, James Lee and a goal from Evin Crummie.

The St Endas keeper was in outstanding form with 3 great saves which kept his team in the game and they came back to score a goal and 3 points before half time to leave the score 1-6 to 1-3 at the break.

In the second half the Ballyhegan midfield of James McCann and Conor Fearon kept a steady supply of good quality ball into the forward line which resulted in a further goal and 2 points for Evin Crummie and points for Conor Fearon and James Lee following good support play by Jamie McKenna and Kevin McCann.

With the Ballyhegan defence on top they kept scoring chances for St Endas to a minimum with fine interceptions from half backs Ronan McAtarsney, Jack Gallagher and Ryan McCann.

Conor Hughes in the Ballyhegan goals was solid and his kick outs always found his team mate.

The full back line of Oisin Hamill and Stefan Mackey gave their keeper plenty of support and in all only 5 points were conceded in the second half.  As the game drew to a close James McCormack collected the ball and with an excellent pass found Michael McCann who slotted the ball in the corner of the net.

Final score Ballyhegan Davitts 3-10: St Endas 1-8.
