Seniors Earn Deserved Draw In League Opener

Ballyhegan opened the scoring with a Philip Kelly point. Cross scored a brace of points and Conor Morgan and Jack Wilson put the Davitts in front with points from play. Cross dominated the rest of the first half and scored 2-5 without replay. Ronan Devlin and Mel Courtney were introduced and Conor Williamson finished the scoring in the first half with a points from play.

Cross opened the scoring in the second half with a pointed free. Shane McKeever replied after an excellent Paul Courtney pass. Crossmaglen keep up the pressure with a brace of frees before the Davitts  rallied with a  points from Philip Kelly and James McKeever. Owen Reynolds was introduced into the game and another Kelly point and a second for Conor Williamson reduced the difference to 5 points. A well taken Ronan Devlin goal set the game alive. Crossmaglen kicked a point in a rare breakaway and Ballyhegan finished strongly with 2 points from Philip Kelly and a Jack Wilson point to snatch a draw.

Best for the Davitts were Mark McKeever  Paul Courtney and Plunkett McCormack in defence, Sean Guy worked tirelessly for the hour and Philip Kelly the pick of the forwards. The team showed great spirit to come back from an eight point deficit at half time which hopefully should auger well for the year to come.
