Sunday 8th May

O’Hanlon’s 0-08 Ballyhegan 3-12

Played in wonderful sunshine yesterday Ballyhegan comfortably beat a Redmond O’Hanlon’s side that had been doing quite well in recent weeks. Since this was the second game of the weekend, there were a few changes to the Ballyhegan line up, but the lads that came in did a great job.

Daniel McKeever opened the scoring in the first minute followed by two frees from his brother Conal in the 4th and 5th minutes. O’Hanlon’s hit back with a point, but Ballyhegan where the stronger team throughout and Conor Loughran’s goal helped cement this, along with points from Paul Nixon and Rory McKeever.  Two scores from O’Hanlon’s number 5 and 10 keep the score board ticking for them. One final score each left the half-time score O’Hanlon’s 0-06 Ballyhegan 1-6

Jack Rafferty came on at half-time for Ballyhegan and within minutes of the re-start had the ball in the O’Hanlon’s net, a long ball played in by Mark Hughes saw Jack catch and turn before finishing calmly to the net. Jack followed this up with a point and the Davitts added further points from Conal McKeever and Mark Hughes. Mark again set Jack Rafferty up for another goal, a long ball again in to Jack which saw him turn and find the net once more. Ballyhegan kicked another nine points and scored a total of 2-12 in the second half which will have pleased the management.

Overall this was a good weekend for Ballyhegan as they took 3 points from a possible 4 to remain unbeaten in the league. Though harder tests are to come, notably this weekend when they have another two games, Friday sees Clady come to Ballyhegan Park, while on Sunday the also unbeaten Keady come to Ballyhegan Park.
