The SEAMIC sponsored Minor team traveled to Tullysaran on Mon night to finish off their first round of League games for the 2011 season.

The home team opened brightly with an early point and a goal, C. McKeever replied for the visitors with a nicely taken point. Tullysaran continued to dominate and tagged on another 3 points to put them into a 6 point lead.

The Ballyhegan team rallied and a sweeping move was finished to the net by C McKeever, this was quickly followed by a J Rafferty point and a C McCann point saw the scores level.
However, Tullysaran pressed on again and another goal and 2 points increased their lead once again. Ballyhegan continued to keep up a high work rate and points from P Kelly took them back into it.

A period of sustained pressure by the home team yielded another goal despite the best efforts of M Devlin in the Davitt's nets and saw them finish the half with a total of 3-6 (15).
Once again Ballyhegan responded with a super strike from J Rafferty into the top corner of the visitors net, leaving them on a half time total of 2-5 (11).

Ballyhegan started the second half in businesslike fashion with a nice move that saw C McKeever score a point, J Rafferty followed up with another point after good approach work.
By now The Davitts were in the ascendancy and a P Kelly goal saw them take the lead for the first time in the game. The game ebbed and flowed with Tullysaran getting the leveling score from a free but Davitt's fitness was beginning to tell and when a six man passing break from defence to attack was finished to the net by P Kelly there was only going to be one winner.

Tullysaran did manage a goal from play and a late goal from a free to leave them on a finishing total of 4-7 (19) but by now the Davitts team were dominating the possession and a C McKeever free and further points from P Kelly (2), a fisted J Rafferty effort and a long range C McCann one saw them end with a winning total of 4-12 (24).

An excellent game of open attacking football from both teams which certainly entertained the supporters of both teams, the win was Davitt's third in succession and takes them into the top league section of the All County league.

Ballyhegan were without a number of players due to exam commitments and injuries and management were v happy with the way a number of players came in and deputised, C McKeever, (on his Minor debut) in the forward line, was excellent and J Rafferty and N Hagan were both industrious and linked play really intelligently and all three made strong claims for inclusion in the next starting line-out.
